Fully funded Master’s Degree Scholarship in UK

The Desmond Tutu/Church of Scotland Master’s Degree Scholarship Grant is tenable for one year.  They are currently offering scholarships to a student from any African country. The scholarship will be for a full-time one year postgraduate Masters programme of study within the School of Divinity. t. participants must have the official endorsement from the General Secretary or Principal Clerk of their Church.

This scholarship was set up in honor of the Most Reverend Desmond Tutu to commemorate the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Divinity conferred by the University on him

The Scholarship Value

The scholarship will cover:

  • Fully funded for tuition fee
  • Insurance from Church of Scotland business travel, underwritten by Aviva.
  • Accommodation within a Church of Scotland flat within Edinburgh
  • £440 per calendar month for living costs
  •  shall cover Visa costs
  • One return airfare

The award will be tenable for one academic year.

Eligibility Criteria for the Master’s Degree Scholarship

  1. The scholarship will be awarded to a student from Africa who is accepted on a full-time basis. This student must have been enrolled for a one year postgraduate Masters programme of study within the School of Divinity.
  2. All successful candidates must have the official endorsement from the General Secretary or the Principal Clerk of their Church.
  3.  In informed that academic excellence is the basis of the award of the scholarship. therefore you must have a Bachelor Degree equivalent to a UK first class or 2:1 Honours degree.
  4. In other to be considered, you must be a member of a Church of Scotland partner church in Africa.  these include:
  • Presbyterian Church of Nigeria
  • Uniting Presbyterian Church of Southern Africa
  • Presbyterian Church of South Sudan
  • Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana
  • Presbyterian Church of Ghana
  • Presbyterian Church of East Africa
  • Synod of the Nile of the Evangelical Church of Egypt
  • Church of Central Africa Presbyterian
  • Igreja Evangelica de Cristo Mocambique
  • United Church of Zambia
  • Uniting Presbyterian Church of Southern Africa

 

In addition, the selection panel will also take into account the financial circumstances of applicants.
