Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships

Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships (QECS) are currently open. This scheme offers scholars from any Commonwealth countries the opportunities to complete their Master’s degree program through a fully funded award scheme. This award also empowers the recipients with skills and new experiences in another country.

The awardees must be students who are ready to contribute to their community change and sustainable development goals.  By joining an active network of more than 35,000 scholars, they will participate in a life-changing opportunity that will enhance academic collaboration and cultural exchange.

 The Scholarship Value

Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships provide

  • full tuition fees,
  • living allowance,
  • a return economy flight,
  • an arrival allowance, and a research support grant (on request)
  • Scholarships are for a maximum of two years

Level & Fields of Study Covered

Scholarships are for the approved courses in the following faculties

  • Medicine, health and life sciences
  • Arts and humanities
  • Social sciences
  • Physical sciences, engineering and mathematics

Eligibility Criteria for the QECS Scholarships

To be eligible to apply for the Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships, prospective applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be a citizen of a commonwealth country or granted refugee status by a Commonwealth country other than the country in which you shall take up the course for the award
  • You must hold at least upper second level in your Bachelors degree
  • The scholarships are for Master’s study only and not distance learning courses
  • The scholarships are for new students only

How to Submit an Application for the Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships

You must choose from the approved list of universities for each course faculty course. Follow the university application link and follow the instructions to upload the following documents

  • Scan of passport or national ID card
  • High school certificate
  • Undergraduate transcript
  • Two academic references
  • University offer letter for the course you have applied for if you already have one
  • Proof of English language if English is not your first language
