Non Italian residents can now apply for scholarships for foreign students, through the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI). Scholarships are also available for Italian citizens living abroad (IRE). This grant shall cover the 2018-2019 academic session. MAECI purpose of the grant is to promote Italian language and culture, promte international cultural, technological and scientific cooperation and to support Italy’s economic system in the world
these grants are given for any study, training, and/or research programs being offered at any public and legally recognised Italian Educational Institutes

The Scholarship Value
The Scholarship value is as follows
successful applicants will be paid a 900 Euros monthly allowance every quarter, which will be paid into their Italian bank account.
Successful applicants may be exempted from the payment of enrollment and tuition fees depending on the policy of each University. However , note that exemption is not granted for courses in Italian language and culture, for which enrollment fees are
Health and Medical Insurance
the scholarship shall cover a health and medical/accident insurance. therefore recipients of the MAECI scholarships are covered for the entire duration of the grant. however any recipient with a pre-existing medical condition shall not have expenses related to the condition covered.

Scholarships are available for
- Eligible Master’s Degree (Laurea Magistrale 2° ciclo),
- Courses of Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM),
- PhD program,
- Research under academic supervision (Progetti in co-tutela),
- Italian Language and Culture Courses
Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship
To be eligible to apply for the Scholarship,prospective applicants must meet the following criteria:
· Academic qualifications
Applications must only be submitted by foreign students not residing in Italy and by Italian citizens living abroad (IRE) holding an appropriate academic qualification required to enroll to the Italian University/Institute
· Age limits
Applicants for Master’s Degree/Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM) Programmes/Italian Language and Culture Courses should not be over 28 years old by the deadline of this call, with the sole exception of renewals.
· Age limit for Applicants for PhD Programmes is 30 years old by the deadline of this call
· Age limit for Applicants for Research Projects under academic supervision is 40 years old by the deadline of this call
· Language skills and proficiency
Applicants are expected to show evidence of their proficiency in Italian language with an issued Certificate of which the minimum level required is B2 .
·, however, applicants for courses taught in English do not need Proof of proficiency in Italian, rather they are expected to provide proof of their proficiency in English Language with an issued Certificate with the minimum level requirement of B2 .
